  • Medicals for pre-employment, sports and driving requirements (PSV, Jockey etc.)
  • Insurance reports
  • Prescriptions for taking medication abroad
  • Private sick notes
  • Certain travel vaccinations (including malaria)
  • Vaccination certificates

If you wish to inquire about anything not covered on this list, or would like to know more about the fees we charge please contact us.

Why does my doctor charge fees

Not all work doctors are asked to do is paid for by the NHS. The NHS only pays for NHS work, any work outside of the NHS must be funded by other means, this is why fees are charged. These fees cover costs like the doctor’s time, other staff costs, buildings, heating, lighting, etc.

What if I only need the doctor’s signature?

When your doctor signs a certificate or completes a report, it is a condition of remaining on the Medical Register that they only sign what they know to be true.

In order to complete even the simplest of forms, they may have to check your entire medical record (some of which may not be accessible on a computer or on site).

Do GPs have to do non-NHS work for their patients?

With certain exceptions written within their contract, for example a GP confirming that one of their patients is not fit for jury service, doctors do not have to carry out non-NHS work. However, many choose to do so for the benefit of their patients.

What will I be charged?

Some fees are set by legislation, whilst others are set by the practice using guidelines from the British Medical Association.

Please contact the practice for further details.

Not all reports or forms have to be completed by a GP

Not all documents need to be completed / signed by a doctor some can be done by other professionals. Please check the form and accompanying guidance as you may get a quicker response that way.

Do I need to book an appointment

This type of work can sometimes be done without you having an appointment with your doctor.

Please don’t book an appointment to complete forms without checking with reception first, they will be able to advise whether you need an appointment or not.

What can I do to help?

If you have several forms requiring completion, present them all at once and ask your doctor if he or she is prepared to complete them at the same time to speed up the process.

Please allow plenty of time for the work to be completed. Urgent requests may mean that a doctor has to make special arrangements to process the form quickly, and this could cost more.
